Cleaning And Maintaining Your Refrigerator

May 21st, 2010

Your Freezer and refrigerator sections defrost automatically
but both sections should be cleaned atleast once a month to
prevent the building up of odors from things that spill on the
inside. Also the evaporator fan motor circulates air  between
both sections and any odors form in one section will transfer
to the other. So cleaning both section is essential to prevent
odor transfer and drying out of food.

When cleaning your refrigerator do not use abrasive or harsh
cleaners such as window sprays, scouring cleansers, flammable
fluids, cleaning waxes, petroleum products on plastic parts,
interior and door liners or gaskets. Do not use paper towels,
scouring pads,or other harsh cleaning tools.

Before you begin to clean refrigerator unplug or turn off power
to the unit. Hand wash, rinse, and dry removable parts and
interior surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge or soft cloth
and mild detergent in warm water. When it comes to stainless
steel and painted metal exteriors proper care should be taken;
wash with a clean  sponge or soft cloth and mild detergent in
warm water.

Sometimes a little house cleaning is needed like a routine
condenser cleaning if the environment is greasy, dusty, or if
there is significant pet traffic in the home. If  any of these
things are present the condenser on the refrigerator should be
cleaned  every 2 to 3 months to ensure maximum efficiency.

Should The Customer Try To Repair The Appliance Themselves?

August 20th, 2009

Well my answer to that is, if the customer has the
knowledge to do the diagnosis and complete the repair
then it’s alright for them to do the repair and save
themselves the cost of the repair.

There are many do it yourself books and videos on the
market with very good instruction on home appliance
repair, that if studied and understand can help the
consumer in this undertaking at home. However, I
would still like to warn the consumer to be careful
about getting electricuted trying to save some money
on repairs. All of these home appliance operate with
electricity, some 120 vac or 220 vac and different
amperage and can be fatal if the wrong thing is done.

The home appliances that are built these days are
very complex with all kind of electronic controls
and integrated circuits just like a computer and
one should be trained on these electronic circuits
how to program, diagnos and repair problems on all
of these home appliances before attempting to do
any taking apart or repairs.

True story. On Wednesday August 19, 2009 I was
called out to a repeat customer’s home to repair
her Whirlpool clothes dryer that came on when she
turn it on to dry clothes but the drum does not
roll around. I’m sure that you already know what the
problem is and maybe the customer know what it is
too; so when I got to the home the customer took
me to the dryer, well ” low and behold ” the top
section with the control and all the wiring the
console, was sitting on top of the dryer. This
seen turn me off and I was ready to make an
about face to leave however, I manage to ask the
customer what happened to the dryer why it’s
taken apart like that, at which time she said to
me, I have some family members who are vacationing
with me and one of them took it apart to do the
repair and when he couldn’t fix it he left it like
that. I kind of got myself together and said
why would anyone who don’t know what they are
doing take an appliance apart; I also said in
cases like this when I go to a customers home
and meet appliances like this I walk away from
the appliance and tell the customer to call
someone else to do the repair because I would
not be able to do it. But something told me to
do the repair and I did.

I had to put the console with the control and
all the wiring back together and put them back
on the dryer. What the family member for the
customer did on the dryer was un-necessary.
The dryer had a broken drum belt that would of
taken me about 20 minutes to complete the repair
but I took about 45 minutes to complete this job.

The lesson that I hope you learn from this
incident is to refrain from doing things like this
taking appliances apart and leave them when you
don’t know what else to do. In cases like this
you might end up not getting your appliance fix
and might have to call around for another repair
technician to come out another day to do repair.

Dryer Vent Cleaning And Fire Safety

June 29th, 2009

Most clothes dryers exhaust systems inspected have problems
that need to be corrected so that the dryer runs efficiently
and safely, stated Mory Matius leading Dryer Vent Cleaning
Company owner “Dryer Vent Wizard” of Chicago Illinois.

One of the biggest safety hazard in clothes dryers are ducts
which run from the back of the dryer to the outside of the
home; many of the customers complaints about dryer taking too
long to dry clothes that they have to run two and three cycles
before it’s done are warning signs that indicate there is a
problem with restriction and airflow in the dryer vent exhaust
system or vent hose need to be replaced.

Some of the homes that are over ten years may have the flexible
foil and vinyl type of dryer ducts that are no longer within
code “compliance” with todays UL safety codes and should be
replaced for safety reasons, such as a fire etc. According to
the US Fire Administration, dryer vent fires cost more than
$88 million annually, more than 400 injuries and result in an
average od 15 death a year.

If you are experiencing that your laundry is taking a longer time
to dry than usual there maybe problems with your dryer vent system
and should be checked out. Call your appliaace service company to
do a maintenance check on your dryer, or call Barzey’s Appliance
Service   954-587-5734   and we would come and check your venting system
if it is a problem we can rectify we would take care of it or if you

Refrigerator Is Blowing Hot Air

June 3rd, 2009

You stated that you bought a refrigerator back in 2003
and came home to find the ice melted and everything
warm, and  do not know what to do. To tell you the
truth there is nothing you can do at this time to make
that refrigerator to start cooling and freezing.

It’s time to call in the Pros, the appliance repair company
because the problem with your refrigerator is not something
that you or any home owner should try to repair on their own
unless they are skilled in this field. I know that it’s tough
financially with allot of home owners and they are doing all
they can to save money, but don’t attempt to do this yourself.
It may end up costing you more if you fool around with your
refrigerator rather than calling out the appliance experts to
complete the repair.

Try to save the food or anything in the refrigerator that is
still good by asking your neighbor or a friend to keep them for
you and then clean out the inside of the refrigerator if you can.

Barzey’s Appliance Service is a full line major appliance repair
company located in South Florida. We repair refrigerators, freezers,
coolers, airconditions, stoves, ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers,
garbage disposals, washing machines, dryers, hot water heaters, etc.

Repairs are done today if possible and we carry with us most of the
parts needed to complete the repair on our first visit. But you know
some times we have to go out and get the parts needed to complete the
repair, and other times these parts have to be ordered from the appliance
parts manufacturer and it take days before we receive the parts.

You Save Money And Time Using The Small Guys

May 24th, 2009

Many home owners failed to patronize small sevice companies
like ours that can save them hundreds of dollars on their
appliance repairs. Because we are not part of the big name
Sears, Whirlpool, General Electric, Frigidaire, Maytag and
allot of other big names they think of us as incapable to
repair their appliances. Big mistake for home owners and
even though it’s taking them awhile to find out their
mistake the word is getting around by other home owners of
the savings they are having on repairs.

Small companies like ours have to compete with these large
companies every day that can afford thousands of dollars in
advertising cost per month that they must get back from you
so, it’s going to cost you more to use their service than to
use ours to do a repair. And you are more likely to run into
problems with these big name companies than with the small
Guys like us. Just an example of some of the complaints from
customers about these big name service companies and how they
were treated. ” Check this out now for yourself “

Powering Up Your Appliances

May 20th, 2009

Do you ever stop and think about this, how your appliances
are powered up? Are they safe to touch without getting shock?
This is not funny. I’ve been on service calls at customers home
where they complain of getting shock from the refrigerator when
they hold the door handle to open the door and they were telling
the trust; because after conducting test on the appliance, there
was voltage going to the body of the refrigerator because it wasn’t
grounded properly.

What about your home electrical system, have you ever questioned if
the electrical wiring and power distribution is safe and up to date?
You maybe thinking about buying new or replacing old appliances
probably your refrigerator or washing machine, but before you do that
take the necessary step and call in an electrician to do a home safety
check on your electrical system. This can save you and your household
lives. Protect against fire hazard and upgrade your electrical system.

Barzey’s Appliance Service will repair your appliances today if possible.
We repair all major home appliance it doesn’t matter what brand it is

Here are some tips about your appliances that might be of interest to you.

Appliances are built to perform for a long time even though they work hard year after year usually without too many problems. They are easily taken for granted and the result is that when an appliance breaks down you may be completely at a loss don’t know how it works and no idea why it stopped working, and you certainly don’t know how to fix it.

What can you do? You can pay a professional to fix it or you can fix it yourself and save money. This article will provide you with all the information you need to know to pull your major appliances apart and then put them back together in working order. But before you attack the refrigerator with a screwdriver, let’s get some background information on major appliances.

Most appliances operate on your home’s electrical system: They use AC current from the circuit wiring in your home. Small appliances work on 110-120-volt circuits, and the plugs on their cords have two blades. Large or major appliances, such as air conditioners, dryers, and ranges, usually require 220-240-volt wiring and cannot be operated on 110-120-volt circuits. Large appliances are wired with a grounding wire; their plugs have two blades and a prong. This type of appliance must be plugged into a grounded outlet — one with openings to accept both blades and grounding prong — or grounded with a special adapter plug. All appliances are labeled — either on a metal plate or on the appliance casing — with their power requirements in watts and volts, and sometimes in amps.

Small appliances are usually fairly simple machines. They may consist of a simple heating element, a fan, a set of blades, or rotating beaters attached to a drive shaft; or they may have two or three simple mechanical linkages. Repairs to these appliances are usually correspondingly simple. Large appliances are more complex — one major appliance, such as a washing machine, may have a motor, a timer, and a pump, as well as various valves, switches, and solenoids. With this type of appliance, problems can occur in either the control devices or the mechanical/power components. Failure of a control device may affect one operation or the entire appliance; failure of a mechanical/power device usually affects only the functions that depend on that device. When a major appliance breaks down, knowing how to diagnose the problem is as important as knowing how to fix it.

Because major appliances are so complex, it usually isn’t obvious where a malfunction is. (Many newer appliances include electronic diagnostics that can be interpreted from the owner’s manual.) The first step is to decide whether the problem is in a control device or a mechanical device. In a dryer, for example, the control devices govern the heat, and the mechanical components turn the drum. Which system is affected? If the drum turns, but the dryer doesn’t heat, the problem is in the control system. If the dryer heats, but the drum doesn’t turn, the problem is mechanical. This kind of analysis can be used to pinpoint the type of failure — control system or mechanical system — in all large appliances.

Don’t Try To Do The Repair Yourself

April 28th, 2009

Many consumers now a days are trying to save money and cut cost on their appliance repairs which is good if you know about electrical circuits and you can diagnos the problem. If you do not understand electrical circuits and how the appliance functions, my advised to you is to leave it alone.

It can cost you more in repairs or even your life if you are not familiar with electrical circuits and wiring; so please be careful and leave the technical stuff to those men and women who are trained to do that kind of work.
